How to Subscribe to Claude Max with a Cardfornia Card

Summary: Cardfornia Visa and Mastercard cards can be used to pay for Claude Pro and Max subscriptions on claude.ai. We recommend issuing a dedicated card for each subscription, locked to Anthropic and funded above the monthly charge.

Before you start: Claude is available only in supported countries and regions. Your Claude account, your location and the billing address you enter must be genuine and must match the details registered on your Cardfornia card. Cardfornia cannot help you access Claude from an unsupported location.

Plans and charges

Plan Price Billing
Claude Pro $20 / month, or annual option Monthly or annual
Claude Max 5x $100 / month Monthly only
Claude Max 20x $200 / month Monthly only

Prices shown are for web subscriptions and may change; check claude.com/pricing before you fund your card. Sales tax or VAT may be added depending on your billing address. Mobile app subscriptions are priced and billed separately by Apple or Google — subscribe on the web to pay with your Cardfornia card.

Upgrades are prorated. If you move from Max 5x to Max 20x mid-cycle, you will be charged the difference for the remainder of the billing period, so the charge may not be a round number.

Subscribing for a team? Max is an individual plan. If several people in your company need Claude, look at Claude's Team and Enterprise plans, which provide central billing and admin controls.

Before you start

1. Fund your account. Top up your Cardfornia account in USDT or by bank transfer.

2. Issue a dedicated card. We recommend one card per subscription, so each charge is easy to trace and can be stopped without affecting other spending.

3. Set the card controls.

Control Recommended setting
Per-transaction limit At least the plan price plus tax — e.g. $230 for Max 20x
Monthly limit Plan price plus tax, with headroom for a prorated upgrade
Merchant restriction Anthropic only
Card balance (per-card funding) Above the next charge before each renewal date

A per-transaction limit that is lower than the charge is the most common reason a subscription payment fails, particularly on the $200 tier.

Step-by-step

  1. Sign in to claude.ai and open Settings → Billing, or go to the upgrade page and choose Max 5x or Max 20x.
  2. Open the card details in your Cardfornia dashboard and use the copy buttons to paste the card number, expiry date and CVC. Avoid typing them by hand, and check that your browser has not autofilled an old card.
  3. Enter the billing address registered on your Cardfornia card — your company's registered address. It should match exactly.
  4. Confirm the subscription. Anthropic may place a small or zero-value verification authorisation before the first charge; this is released automatically.
  5. Check the transaction in your Cardfornia dashboard. It should appear under Anthropic within a few minutes.

If the payment fails

First, open the card's transaction history in the Cardfornia dashboard.

If you see a declined transaction, the decline reason tells you what to fix:

Decline reason What it means Fix
Transaction limit exceeded The charge is higher than the card's per-transaction or monthly limit Raise the limit above the charge amount, then retry once
Insufficient balance The card or account balance is lower than the charge Top up, then retry once
Merchant not permitted The merchant restriction does not include Anthropic Update the merchant restriction
Invalid expiry or CVC A card detail was entered incorrectly Re-paste the details using the copy buttons
Card frozen or cancelled The card is not active Unfreeze it or issue a new card

If there is no transaction at all, the payment never reached the card network. Check the card details and billing address you entered on claude.ai, and make sure the card is active.

Retry once, not repeatedly. If a payment fails twice, stop and fix the cause first. Repeated attempts with the same details will fail the same way, and a burst of declines can cause the merchant or the card network to treat the card as higher risk.

If you still cannot resolve it, contact [support@cardfornia.com] with the card's last four digits and the time of the attempt.

FAQ

Can I use the same card for a Claude subscription and the Claude API?
Yes, but we recommend separate cards. API usage is billed on different terms and can vary a lot month to month; a separate card with its own limit keeps a spike in API usage from blocking your subscription renewal.

What happens when I cancel?
Cancel in claude.ai under Settings → Billing. Your plan stays active until the end of the current billing period. You can then freeze or cancel the Cardfornia card; any remaining balance returns to your account.

Can I pay annually for Max?
No. Max is currently billed monthly only. Pro offers an annual option.

Can I subscribe through the Claude mobile app with my Cardfornia card?
Mobile subscriptions are billed by Apple or Google through your app store account, not directly by Anthropic. Subscribe on the web to use your Cardfornia card.
