How to Subscribe to Codex with a Cardfornia Card
Summary: Codex, OpenAI's coding agent, is not sold as a separate subscription. It is included in ChatGPT plans, so to get Codex you subscribe to ChatGPT Plus, Pro or Business. Cardfornia Visa and Mastercard cards can be used to pay for these plans on chatgpt.com. We recommend a dedicated card per subscription, locked to OpenAI and funded above the charge.
Before you start: ChatGPT and Codex are available only in supported countries and regions. Your OpenAI account, your location and the billing address you enter must be genuine and must match the details registered on your Cardfornia card. Cardfornia cannot help you access OpenAI services from an unsupported location.

Prices are set by OpenAI and change often; check the Codex pricing page before you fund your card. Tax may be added depending on your billing address.
Three things that affect what you are charged:
- Credits are billed separately. When Plus or Pro users reach their usage limit, they can buy additional credits to keep working. These are separate charges on top of the subscription and can vary in amount.
- API-key usage is a different bill. If you sign in to Codex with an OpenAI API key instead of your ChatGPT account, usage is billed through the OpenAI Platform at API rates, not through your ChatGPT plan.
- Mobile subscriptions are billed by Apple or Google. Subscribe on the web to pay with your Cardfornia card.
Subscribing for a team? Pro is an individual plan. For two or more developers, ChatGPT Business gives you a shared workspace, central billing and admin controls, and is priced per seat.
Before you start
1. Fund your account. Top up your Cardfornia account in USDT or by bank transfer.
2. Issue a dedicated card. One card per subscription keeps each charge traceable and lets you stop one without affecting the others. If you also buy credits or use the API, give those their own card too (see FAQ).
3. Set the card controls.

Business annual billing is the one most often underestimated: five seats billed annually is a single charge of around $1,200 before tax. Set the per-transaction limit before you subscribe, not after the first decline.
Step-by-step
- Sign in to chatgpt.com and open the upgrade page. Choose Plus or Pro (and the 5x or 20x tier), or Business if you are setting up a team workspace.
- Open the card details in your Cardfornia dashboard and use the copy buttons to paste the card number, expiry date and CVC. Check that your browser has not autofilled an old card.
- Enter the billing address registered on your Cardfornia card — your company's registered address. It should match exactly.
- Confirm the subscription. A small verification authorisation may appear before the first charge; it is released automatically.
- Check the transaction in your Cardfornia dashboard. It should appear under OpenAI within a few minutes.
- Open Codex in the ChatGPT app, CLI or IDE extension and sign in with the same ChatGPT account. Your plan's Codex usage is available immediately.
If the payment fails
First, open the card's transaction history in the Cardfornia dashboard.
If you see a declined transaction, the decline reason tells you what to fix:

If there is no transaction at all, the payment never reached the card network. Check the card details and billing address you entered on chatgpt.com, and make sure the card is active.
Retry once, not repeatedly. If a payment fails twice, stop and fix the cause first. Repeated attempts with the same details fail the same way, and a burst of declines can cause the merchant or card network to treat the card as higher risk.

FAQ
Is there a Codex-only subscription?
No. Codex is included in ChatGPT plans. Subscribing to ChatGPT Plus, Pro or Business gives you Codex in the ChatGPT app, the CLI and the IDE extension.
Should credits and the API go on the same card as my subscription?
We recommend separate cards. Credit purchases and API usage vary in size from month to month; a separate card with its own limit keeps a spike in usage from blocking your subscription renewal, and makes each type of spend easy to reconcile.
How do I move from Plus to Pro?
Upgrade in your ChatGPT account settings. Before you do, raise your card's per-transaction limit to cover the Pro price.
What happens when I cancel?
Cancel in your ChatGPT account settings. Your plan stays active until the end of the current billing period. You can then freeze or cancel the Cardfornia card; any remaining balance returns to your account.
Can I subscribe through the ChatGPT mobile app with my Cardfornia card?
Mobile subscriptions are billed through your Apple or Google app store account, not directly by OpenAI. Subscribe on the web to use your Cardfornia card.
